Do I order ahead, or just show up?
Believe it or not, we take pre-orders and usually sell out a week before Christmas. We have limited cooking capacity of 30 birds/hams per day. We very rarely have a turkey for you if you call the day before or day of (only in the unlikely event of a cancellation.) So get your act together and order now!
Can I only order for December 24th?
Nope. You can have a turkey or ham anytime, we just need about a weeks’ notice to round the birds and pigs up. People often order for December 23rd or even New Year’s Eve! Or treat your office to a festive turkey lunch.
How much gravy do I get?
We offer a liter of gravy with each turkey. You may order an extra litre for $10
Is your gravy really house-made?
YES! We take pride in our gravy from scratch. We use house-made bone broth, butter, turkey fat rendered from the birds and finish the batch with drippin’s from the turkeys. We don’t add any liquid smoke (none in the house in fact), the light smoke flavour is from the smoked bird’s juices.
How much stuffin’ do we get?
You will get the equivalent to 4 liters of stuffing or one feast tray full. We feel this is enough for 8 to 10 people, but if you need more, you can double your order of stuffing for $20
Can you add other meats to your order?
YES! People often add brisket, pulled pork or ribs to their order. And don’t forget about adding some cornbread or collard greens to really fill out your southern feast. To help keep our very hectic Christmas eve running smoothly, please request add-ons at time of ordering.
You took my credit card over the phone, does that mean I have paid?
No. We simply take the credit card to hold your turkey. If you don’t show up, and we can’t sell it to a last minute Larry, we charge the card. But generally speaking, for security purposes we take payment in person upon pickup.
How should I place my order?
Call the store you wish to pick up from. You cannot order via our website’s contact form or email. If you have any questions that aren’t answered here, please call the restaurant to get clarity.
When should I plan to pick up?
We offer two pick up times: between 12-1 pm, and 5-6pm. Please don’t come early. The turkeys won’t be ready, and it stresses us out! This year especially, we won’t be able to have people waiting in the restaurant due to Covid-19 considerations. We have perfected our timing over the course of 18 years, and it will be ready on time.
Does the turkey taste really smokey?
Not really. You get a hint of smoke, but nothing overwhelming. If you are very sensitive to these kinds of flavours, you can always order our BBQ chicken for dinner and test your smoke tolerance out ahead of time.
I’m picking up my bird at 1pm, and serving at 6pm. How should I keep her warm?
Turkey really likes to rest and relax before the big carve. Some chef’s recommend up to 5 hours rest time. We suggest you pop her in a cozy corner of your kitchen, leave it wrapped, and tuck her under a few tea towels. If you find you need to reheat a little you can do so at 200°F in your oven for 30-60 minutes.
Reheating for x-mas seems like sacrilege, I dunno…?
We get a lot of repeat customers every year, and they say the reheating doesn’t hurt the juiciness. We have also run these reheat tests ourselves, and it really is impressive how well the birds reheat. You literally cannot tell the difference. Besides, we want our staff to have Christmas day off like everybody else. We will provide comprehensive reheat instructions when you pick up your bird.
Do y’all carve?
Typically no, we want you to have the honors. But if you are completely unable to, we will do so for $15. But you must let us know at the time of ordering, or you may be out of luck.
I’ve ordered a ham, but I want all the fixin’s.
